GAE SAVANNAH Artist/Writer
Gae Savannah fashions sculpture in plastics, fabric and light. (hair clips, vinyl, cellophane, beads, plexiglass, mylar, etc.) The work has been reviewed in publications including: New York Times, Village Voice, Daily News, Sculpture, Art.es (Madrid), Artnet, Flavorpill, Angle, Art in America, Flash Art, Time Out, James Kalm Report (Artforum Video), and Animal magazine.
Savannah has exhibited internationally at venues including: Stenersen Museum (Oslo), Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (CO), Gyeongnam Museum (Seoul), China Art Contemporary (Beijing), Palazzo delle Arti Napoli Museum (Naples), Bronx Museum (NYC), Mattatuck Museum (CT), Hunterdon Museum (NJ), Visual Arts Museum (NYC), Exit Art (NYC), Artists Space (NYC), Samson Projects (Boston), Chelsea Museum (NYC), Swope Museum (IN), Cynthia Broan Gallery (NYC), Rupert Ravens Nexxt (NJ), and Janet Kurnatowski Gallery (NYC).
An Associate Curator at Rupert Ravens Contemporary (NJ) from 2006-2012, she also writes reviews for magazines including: Flash Art, Sculpture, and dART International (Toronto). MOCA North Miami, Artist of the Month (Dec. 2012), she has received grants from Charles P. Revson, Edward Zutrau, and Malka Lubelski Foundations.
